Capital Reef

Our family was invited to do some camping with some good friends of ours during spring break. We went down to a naltional park in southern Utah called Capital Reef. It was visually breathtaking and a lot of fun. We pulled in late at night, after driving for several hours and avoiding every dear and elk in southern Utah that just happen to be crossing the road at the time we were traveling. Fortunatley we didn't hit any. But we arrived and set up camp in the middle of an old orchard. The campsites are wonderful and if you are there during fruit season you can eat all the fruit your stomach can handle. Mormon pioneers settled this place and grew fruit there until the land was purchased and turned into a state park. The picture of the old building is actually an old school house that was built in 1800 something and still had alot of the school items they used in those days. The hikes were awesome and the kids had a great time. We hiked through a wonderful slot canyon and up to a really cool arch. The rock formations along the way were like a huge jungle gym for the kids. What a great time and of course the friends that we went with were alot of fun to be with. Thanks Patches for the invite and Wagstaffs for the good company. P.S. (you have never seen such professional campers as the Wagstaffs, man talk about roughing it kind of folks.)
